Official Singles Chart Discussion: Week of 22 May 2020 – 28 May 2020 RADIO Locale
Updated: May 25
The Week of 22 May 2020 – 28 May 2020 Official Singles Chart Top 100 has been released by Official Charts. Here are some of the highlights:
DaBaby and Roddy Ricch remain at number one with their collaboration “Rockstar”. This is only its sixth week on the chart, and it has seen a strong trajectory so far.
“If The World Was Ending” by JP Saxe and Julia Michaels has been mentioned a few times now, due to its potential to grow into a big hit. On its 14th week on the chart, it is steady at number 14, which is also its current peak. A close eye should be kept on this song to see if it enters the top ten in the upcoming weeks.
Katy Perry, who has been reliant on the adult contemporary format as much as pop at this point, sees “Daises” enter at number 37. A potential rise from here will depend on marketing and if listeners enjoy the song. While it is not a bad place to enter, it will have to rise many places to compete with many of her previous hits. Other notable entries to the chart this week include “Think About Things” by Dadi Freyr at number 43, “Lose Somebody” by Kygo and OneRepublic at number 65, and “Surrender” by Natalie Taylor at number 75.
Taking a big fall this week is Sam Smith and Demi Lovato’s collaboration “I’m Ready”, which is down seven spots to number 40. Additionally, Jonas Brothers’ “What A Man Gotta Do” has fallen out of the top 40, down ten spots to number 45.
Anyone looking for songs on the rise should keep a close watch on Topic and A7S’s “Breaking Me”, which is up nine spots to number 15 on its sixth week on the chart. It is yet another week of the song’s exponential growth in popularity.
Radio Locale will be featuring Katy's new single to the RADIO Locale play list... Stay Tuned.
